Roy Marsh is the founder, Head Instructor, and owner of Team-ROC Southern Pines. He is one of the very few Tested Black Belts in the World under Royce Gracie. Roy is recognized, and sought after, for his technical knowledge and engaging instruction and has taught seminars throughout the U.S. and Europe. He is a No-Gi World Champion, Multiple No-Gi Pan American and NY Open Gold Medalist, and is a CagesideMMA sponsored athlete. He is also an Advisor to the 82nd Airborne Combatives and Advanced Tactics Program at Fort Bragg, NC, and is MACP (Modern Army Combatives Program) Level II Certified.
As a student of Royce Gracie and Greg Thompson, Roy has always trained with the understanding that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is, first and foremost, a combative, real-world style based on solid fundamentals that anyone can use to protect themselves, regardless of athletic ability, age or size. Roy has been twice featured on the BJJBrick Podcast, as well as the Cageside ConcussionCast GrapplingKnowledge.com, and Toro Gi’s Ask a Black Belt Video Series. He is also a CagesideMMA sponsored competitor.
Although Roy believes in practicing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as a complete art with a focus on real world self-defense, he has trained many students for both Mixed Martial Arts and Jiu-Jitsu Competitions as well as being a successful competitor himself. Following is a list of some of his accomplishments:
